- Product Background
The Kidneys: The Body's Purification Pumps
- WHO reported in 2020 that "Kidney diseases" have risen from the 13th to the 10th leading cause of death and disability globally since 2000.
- In Taiwan, "Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis" ranked 9th among the "Top Ten Causes of Death" in 2021 according to the Ministry of Health and Welfare statistics.
- In Taiwan, one in eight adults suffers from kidney disease.
- The prevalence of chronic kidney disease in adults over 20 is over 12%, and more than 96% of early kidney disease cases go undetected.
- As life expectancy increases, so does the number of "unhealthy life years."
- The absence of pain receptors in the kidneys makes early symptoms hard to notice, leading to missed treatment opportunities and irreversible kidney damage.
Gut-Kidney Axis
- Decades of research on "gut microbiota" and body metabolism have led to the gut-kidney axis hypothesis, explaining the crucial link between beneficial and harmful bacteria distribution in the gut and kidney health.
- Beneficial Bacteria: Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus, Ruminococcus, Faecalibacterium Pathogenic Bacteria: Eggerthella lenta, Fusobacterium nucleatum, Alistipes shali, Bacteroides
- Metabolites of gut probiotics, like short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), bile acids (BAs), and indole derivatives (IDs), suppress inflammation, enhance the gut barrier, and slow down kidney damage or diseases through systemic metabolism. In contrast, harmful gut bacteria produce toxic substances that impact the gut's immune barrier, leading to an increase in endotoxins and nephrotoxins, burdening the kidneys.

- Kidney Health: Retard kidney function failure, reduce endotoxin and pro-inflammatory cytokine levels, and improve gut microbiota
- Kidney Health Ingredients
- R&D Center conducted multiple tests confirming PRONULIFE® RenaProtect probiotics: Lactobacillus acidophilus TYCA06, Bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis BLI-02, and Bifidobacterium bifidum VDD088.
- These probiotics safeguard kidneys by reducing toxin (indole) production, alleviating kidney inflammation and fibrosis, improving indicators like hypertension and body weight caused by chronic kidney disease (CKD) in mice.
- Clinical studies show the strain combination delays kidney function deterioration and reduces inflammation.
- NGS analysis validates genuine changes in gut microbiota, effectively improving gastrointestinal discomfort caused by prolonged medication.

Technical Details & Test Data
- Clinical Study
Clinical Study on 38 subjects with stage 3-5 chronic kidney disease (glomerular filtration rate [GFR] < 60 mL/min/1.73m2), with supplementation of probiotic capsules containing PRONULIFE® RenaProtect for 6 months (* p < 0.05, ** p < 0.01, *** p < 0.001, vs. the same group before intervention)
- PRONULIFE® RenaProtect , significantly improves AeGFR, retarding the renal function decline
- PRONULIFE® RenaProtect increases the abundance of Bifidobacterium bifidum and Bifidobacterium breve in gut microbiota
- PRONULIFE® RenaProtect reduces the serum levels of endotoxin and pro-inflammatory I cytokines (IL-6, IL-18, TNF-a) to further protect the kidney
